ANSWERS TO THE ABOVE QUESTIONS:

1.0 - Artist related

1.1 - What programs do you use to make your art?

Mainly OpenCanvas5.05 at the moment. Paintshop Pro X4 for pixel art. And no Photoshop. I use Irfanview to do resizing, contrast tweaks and some other things on otherwise finished works.

1.2 - Do you use Photoshop?

Nope. Read the previous (above) FAQ entry.

1.3 - Do you accept art requests, trades or collaborations?

Nope, not unless I so specifically announce. Even then there's bound to be a lot of takers, so it may become lottery or a contest. If you really really really want me to draw something for you, you should consider commissioning me, when I'm available.

1.4 - Do you have a girlfriend?

No. No girlfriend. Never even dated, or had girls as friends. Why? Half the reason is that I'm not sure if I want a relationship to disturb my lifestyle, the other is that I'm not a very social person, and am a total abstainer, so places where I can go for socializing are few. I like my life the way it is, so please don't preach about it. However, if you're a girl and interested in a weirdo like me... never hurts to chat a bit, just in case. ;P

1.5 - I've heard you discourage critique? Why?

Truth be told, I'm much more open to critique than I was ten years ago. However, the fact still remains that I do art primarily for fun, so I don't hold critique in high regard. In any event, provided you're not being a prick about it, feel free to post critique. Sometimes I may learn a thing or two.

1.6 - How long does it usually take to make art?

Depends a lot on the detail of the artwork, and on my mood and plans. On average, sketching an image can take 2-5 hours, digital inking 1-3 hours, and colouring 3-12 hours (sometimes even longer). Total time spent on an image is thus usually 6-20 hours.

1.7 - Aren't you afraid that people are jerking off to your art?!

To be honest, why should I care? As an artist, as the creator of the art, knowing that someone does enjoy my art in that way, it kind of makes me feel proud or appreciated on a special level. Not everyone is capable of drawing an image that can turn on people. If my art is THAT good, then I should feel proud. Don't you think?

2.0 Art related

2.1 - What's with all the nude girls!? Perv!

If you have a problem viewing nudity, then please don't look at my art. The nudity is there for a lot of reasons. I admire female beauty, am interested in it, and since my art is fiction (anime), it's a perfect form of art to show skin without exposing any real people.

2.2 - The breasts of the girls you draw are too big/round/unrealistic!

If you like girls with small or realistic boobies, then perhaps my art isn't for you. I prefer rather large boobs on anime girls. Realism isn't that important to me when it comes to breasts. You just gotta live with that.

2.3 - Teach me how to draw anime!

Sorry, I don't have the time, nor am I really THAT good. Besides, the most you need is time and patience, and tutorials are a lot better way to learn than listening to me, with my own style of doing things. Find your own style by yourself. It's worth the time and trouble. ;)

2.4 - How can you draw the lines so smooth? My lines are all wavy.

If you use a mouse, then I suggest using 'line' tools and vector art for smooth lines. If you use a drawing tablet (which any digital artist should) just steady and relax your hand when you draw. If you can't get good lines that way... I'd say you need a new tablet. Make sure it's Wacom brand. Visit Wacom for info: http://www.wacom.com

2.5 - How do I colour eyes/skin/clothes/hair...

That's a question I can't answer without typing you a book about it. It's all about technique and understanding how different tools affect different parts in an image. Experimenting is crucial. Try to copy someone else's work using different tools and settings. You might even find your own ways to do things, which is a huge plus!

2.6 - Do you draw male characters???

I don't really have interest in them, so you could say I don't draw them. Maybe as off-screen props or comical figures sometimes.

2.7 - The nude girls you draw look like kids!

You're likely referring to the big eyes and chubby looks, particularly in my older works. Anime/manga is a media where eye sizes can come in many varities. For my older works I drew influences from a bunch of anime shows that had huge eyes on all characters' faces. Since then I've somewhat reduced the eye size in my works, but I still do prefer those 'large and expressive eyes' that are common to many an anime show. I think I've reduced the chubbiness a bit along the years too. With the exception of a couple of non-nude commission works, all the characters I draw are 18 or older, including any fanart I may draw of a character that might've appeared a year or two younger in a game or anime they're from. If you don't see them as such, then that's you're issue, pretty much. Maybe a bit more open-mindedness for different styles could help?

2.8 - May I use your art for my non-profit projects?

This is a fairly common question asked by groups that do signatures and tags for personal use. The following is my standard reply to such requests:

"You have my permission to use my art for signatures, avatars and the like, as long as copyrights/credits for the art are included on the finished products. Preferably í© HitmanNí shown somewhere. A link to my galleries or website would also be preferred on the art, or on your or your groupís site (you can find banners and buttons for website linking at my websiteís Affiliates page), but not required. For any larger projects, like website graphics, it would be great if you could inform me of your plans beforehand. Normally I allow usage of my art in nearly all non-profitable ways, so as long as the copyrights are there somewhere, itís usually fine with me. ;)

However, I would prefer that you donít make wallpapers of my art. I make some wallpapers myself, and I wouldnít want people to confuse íofficialí wallpapers with other wallpapers, even if itís only shared inside a small circle of people. Other than that, the above-mentioned permissions and requirements comply.

I don't have the time to follow any extra sites or groups, so sending me an occasional sample of your or your groupís production, that features my art, would be great. Especially if someone uses them somewhere."

To avoid misunderstandings or wrongful use, please contact me if you have any doubts.

3.0 General

3.1 - Kiriban? What's that?

Kiriban is a term used for an event, where a certain number of pageviews or visits to a website grants a prize to anyone who catches the number. Example: I have a kiriban set at 50.000 pageviews. If you see that number when you visit my page, you need to take a screenshot (press PrintScrn on keyboard and paste it somewhere or use some software) and send it to me via email, or upload somewhere on the internet (like your own scrapbook on DeviantArt). You'll get the prize, which is usually an art request from the artist. Note that I haven't done kiriban events for years now, but still might, some day.

4.0 Character FAQ - MiSha

4.1 - Who is this MiSha character?

MiSha is an original character created by me, HitmanN. She was originally going to be a mascot for a small hentai site. She won a contest held at the website and was to become the mascot. However, the site went down before that happened. Therefore, I decided to bring her on DeviantArt instead. Now she is the official mascot character for my DeviantArt page!

4.2 - Why is MiSha's name written with the capital 'S'?

Originally the name was designed after the site she was originally going to. (See FAQ entry 4.1) 'Sha' was was part of that website's name, and it was part of my mascot design plan to connect the website's name to the mascot's name. Obviously, now that MiSha never probably will be the mascot at the site, she doesn't necessarily need the capital 'S', but I decided to keep it for the reason that Misha alone is a bit too common Japanese name in anime and manga. I wanted to somehow separate my MiSha from other Mishas out there... and that's what the capital 'S' works nicely for.

4.3 - How old is MiSha?

She may look young, but she is of legal age. In fact, she ages like a real girl, and her birthday is 23rd of February (the day I designed her). On 02/23/2013 she's 26.

4.4 - Does MiSha have siblings?

MiSha's big sister Erika made her debut appearance on 20th of March, 2006. See section 5 of the FAQ for more info.

5.0 Character FAQ - Erika

5.1 - Who is this Erika character?

Erika is MiSha's sister. First introduced to the public on 20th of March, 2006. Her name was voted for on DeviantART, and 'Erika' slightly won over 'Nina'. She doesn't live with MiSha, but they meet occasionally, and spend plenty of time together. Both girls have the same job. Modeling for a variety of things, from clothing to sexy pin-ups. Erika's favorite is lingerie.

5.2 - How old is Erika?

Her birthday is on 17th of March, the day I sketched her the first time. She ages like a real girl, so on 03/17/2013 she's 28.
